Compression Socks — Also known as compression stockings, garments, or hosiery — are a fantastic tool to help treat many conditions of the lower leg, ankle, and foot. Compression socks apply graduated compression to your feet and ankles to support muscles and to help pump blood and fluid back towards the body from the feet.
At Guelph Performance, we offer two types of compression socks. Performance Grade and Medical Grade.
Performance Grade socks have graduated compression of 15-22mmHg. These socks are great for treating general fatigue during and after exercise, for individuals who have mild swelling due to pregnancy or prolonged sitting or standing, or who are traveling by airplane.
Medical Grade socks have graduated compression of 20-30mmHg and are typically a prescription-only garment. These socks are recommended by therapists or doctors to treat moderate to severe venous insufficiency such as swelling due to pregnancy, lymphedema, orthostatic hypotension, or varicose veins.
Compression socks can help prevent and treat serious conditions such as Deep Vein Thrombosis or Phlebitis.
