Guelph’s friendliest, most accessible gym is now open!
For decades, Moves Fitness and Activity Complex has served Guelph and those that called the gym a home away from home. The owner, Steve, created a space where anyone, regardless of age or ability, could exercise and practice a healthy lifestyle. The result is a unique gym experience where you have the equipment you would expect from a big chain gym, but the comfort and feel of a small local gym.
But the time has come for Steve to pass on the torch!
For Moves members, you likely already know Alana. Alana has had a therapy clinic inside of Moves for 4 years now, helping keep members and patients pain-free with her RMT, AT, and bracing expertise. Since the gym was already Alana’s home, it made perfect sense for her to take on the whole gym!
So what’s changing?
A new key fob access system. Bringing security and new tech to the front door means a safer environment, easier access for members, and no need to sign in—you do need to make sure to pass your fob every time you come in though. Make sure to get your fob to have 24-hour access!
New faces. Running a gym is a lot for one person—we have no idea how Steve did it!—so Alana’s husband, Lyle, will be coming in to handle much of the gym operations. Make sure to say, “Hi!” He loves movies, nerd-stuff, motorcycles, and guitars.
A new(-ish) name. While the gym will always be Moves, the sign on the front is going to become “Guelph Performance Fitness & Therapy.” New name, same great experience!
Besides this, Alana & Lyle have lots of plans for upgrades, but these will be gradual and follow the culture of the gym. We want happy members, so most changes will be a consensus from the members. All changes will be for the better, though!
The gym will stay just as affordable, remain accessible 24-hours, and keep all the equipment you’re used to using.
And as for Steve?
Well, Moves will always be his home, regardless of what it says on the sign. Steve will still be here regularly, offering his knowledge and expertise to his disciples, as well as training his long-time clients. He just might have more time at home and cottage to relax from all the grinding he’s done over the years.
